Wolfe Westerham Garage's story is woven into the fabric of Westerham itself, dating back to the dawn of the 20th century. Initially serving as H.J. Hubble & Co. Motor & Cycle Agents, nestled behind the historic George & Dragon Inn, the company catered to the needs of early motoring enthusiasts. The establishment found itself situated in the old Fountain Temperance Hotel, a location steeped in local history. As Westerham Hill gained fame as a challenging test climb, it became an integral part of the road test route even today, echoing the early days of car testing and advancement in the region.

In 1923, during the interwar period, a momentous event took place when Sir Winston Churchill, a prominent statesman, arrived in his Daimler Landaulette at Chartwell, his grand estate in Westerham. This marked the beginning of a cherished relationship between Sir Winston and Wolfe Garage, with Churchill remaining a valued customer until his eventual retirement to Hyde Park Gate in 1964. This period illuminated the growing prestige and importance of Wolfe Garage within the community.

Embracing the Volkswagen Legacy

The year 1955 saw Wolfe Garage embark on a transformative journey, diversifying its portfolio to include the iconic Volkswagen Beetle. Returning servicemen from the British Army of the Rhine (BAOR) brought their Beetles back to the UK, sparking a surge in demand for these innovative vehicles. This marked Wolfe Garage's entry into the burgeoning Volkswagen market, solidifying its place as one of the first Volkswagen dealerships in the UK.

This newfound expertise extended to the realm of motor caravans, as Wolfe Garage played a significant role in supplying vans for conversion by renowned companies like Danbury, Devon, and Dormobile. The Westerham garage also partnered with Biggin Hill Airport Hire during the 1970s, supplying vehicles that became a familiar sight across Europe. These excursions reflected the expanding reach and influence of Wolfe Garage within the automotive industry.

Continued Growth and Expertise

The year 1988 witnessed a strategic move by Wolfe Garage as it acquired Waite Bros. in Otford. This acquisition expanded its operations and solidified its position as a leading Volkswagen and Audi dealership, further demonstrating its ambition and commitment to providing comprehensive automotive solutions.

A few years later, in 1990, SEAT joined the Volkswagen Group, leading to its incorporation into Wolfe Garage's offerings in 1993, signifying the garage's dedication to remaining at the forefront of automotive advancements.

In 1999, Wolfe Garage returned to its roots, embracing its identity as a family-run local business known as Westerham Garage. Despite holding a SEAT franchise, the core values remained unchanged: delivering personalized service and unwavering support to its valued customers.
